Now look here, one thing is that when we humans came out of the jungle, that is, we started living outside by building homes, after that we humans did many inventions, in which electricity was also one, which we started using in the beginning of 20th century.
See, electricity was there around 500 BC, but when electric bulbs started being used here, only then did we actually know and feel how electricity really is.
And the first light bulb was discovered by Thomas Edison in 1879, so he must have told at least some people of his community about using the bulb.
However, before the electric bulb, the discovery of electric light happened in 1835 through arc lamps, where the arc lamp was invented by Humphry Davy in 1809. That means the story of the electric bulb and electric light is 200 years old from today.
And then after a time when coal also started being used for electricity generation, then the abundance of electricity changed the whole world.
And here coal started being used in 1880 for generating electricity and the first coal based electric generation station was established in New York in 1882.
And first of all, there was maximum coal on our earth, which was available in huge quantity, so coal was used first. And in the year 1880, industrial revolution was going on, where we had learnt how to generate steam from coal in an easy way, where electricity was generated through turbine. So, first of all coal was used to generate electricity.
And in starting on the big form, we had used coal, and otherwise we know that if you rub a blanket, an electric spark is generated, which is a good example of static electricity.
And here coal became the first mover to generate electricity, because before electricity generation, we used coal for cooking, to maintain temperature in winters and for doing other work.
And the steam engine had been made in the 18th century itself. Which means steam played the whole game first, just as electric generators were invented.
And this is why coal is called the first mover, one thing is that it is cheaper too and earlier it was available everywhere in abundance, so in this way coal played the role of the first mover for generation of electricity.
On 21 February 1804, a steam powered train ran for the first time and initially coal and water were used for running it, then coal powered trains started running. This means that overall the whole game has been played with steam, which was always generated from coal in the initial days.
And here there is no problem in saying or believing that in the initial days the electricity generated with the help of steam was done using coal.
Now in the initial days it is very easy to take coal from one place to another for steam as compared to taking other sources from which steam is produced like water etc. Therefore the power plants set up during the time of 1882 were based on coal.
Conclusion:-
Today in this 21st century the need for electricity has increased so much that we cannot even imagine our life. We feel this when we are travelling in some hilly areas and stay there for 2-4 days, then we understand why electricity is so important.
And there are many such locations in the world where there is no availability of electricity. So now electricity is so important for us that humans can make up for the shortage of electricity by themselves and they do not need any power plant
